ColourPop Too Shy Super Shock Pressed Pigment

This next color definitely isn't for the shy.  I picked it up as a gift for Mother's Day for my boyfriend's mom (she looks amazing in blues) and I fell in love with this color.  It was so hard to pry this from my fingers and give it as a gift.  I'm made from stern stuff, so I managed.  I did purchase it for myself the second I got the chance.

It's ColourPop's Super Shock Pressed Pigment in Too Shy.  It's $5.00 for a 2.1 g container.  It is a beautiful cobalt blue with an iris shift.

Can you see that magic?  Oh it's so pretty.  It has the same texture of the other ColourPop shadows.  It's somewhere between a cream and a powder.  If you love blue eyeshadow, this is going to be your friend.  Desi Perkins wears it in this Electric Blue Smokey Eye.  Jackie Aina mentions it in her Top Colors for Chocolate Gals video. Katie Saccomanno uses it in her Bold Blue Eyes tutorial.

Too Shy
The pigmentation isn't quite all that I hoped for and definitely has to be packed on to reach full opacity.  It is loaded with silver, blue and purple glitter.  It isn't the best color with my eyes, which are green.  It looks much better on brown or blue eyes.

Maybe it's the formula, but at the end of the day I noticed blue color and glitter fall out under my eyes.  Nothing horrible but still enough to look almost bruised.  I am very pale though, so if you are darker, you might not notice this.  I think this one may benefit from a good base and maybe a setting spray.

I still like this color and it's stunning in its duo chrome wonderousness.  However, it doesn't have the pigmentation or the staying power of some of the other ColourPop shadows.  If you love blue shadows, that might still be worth it for you.

I did end up wearing this for the 4th of July over a base.  It ended up lasting all night and looking very pretty.

* I got Too Shy on my own.  No one purchased it for me although I might have hypnotized myself into purchasing it by making it change from blue to purple in the box.

Aromi Desert Taupe Liquid Lipstick

After my last post and my review of Aromi's Merry Mulberry liquid lipstick those of you on the greige hunt should have probably expected this.  Those of you uninterested in the greige thing will probably not care about this.    I have to say at first I wasn't into this color but after seeing so many people wearing the greige it really started to grow on me.  Until I was fixated with owning that color.  So now I am looking for dupes...

Aromi
Aromi is a brand that makes it easy to get behind.  They don't test on animals, they use vegan ingredients, are hand made, and they are gluten, paraben, phthalate, and mineral oil free.  They also ship to the US, Canada, Europe (just lists Europe not sure if there are specific countries they ship to), Australia, and New Zealand.

Name listed on the bottom
Aromi's Desert Taupe is the perfect grey-beige.  It is $17.00 for 4 grams, which makes it more product for less than ColourPop, even though it make look more expensive on the surface.  It smells like cake batter, which is fantastic, the scent does fade quickly though, for those of you who do not like scented lip products.

Desert Taupe
The packaging is sleek and simple.  It looks nice but it isn't as though you're paying for some fancy packing.  Something I am all for!

More doe foot action
It has a doe foot applicator, which makes it easy to apply.  It has a watery lip-gloss texture and will dry down to a matte very quickly, less than a minute.  It doesn't feel as though anything is coating your lips, except a thin lipstick.  It has good pigmentation and covers my birthmark fairly well with one coat.

Desert Taupe on
It feels comfortable and will last through eating and drinking, unless you're eating a burger and drinking gravy or something equally greasy.  It will last an eight hour day plus some extra.  It will feel drying after several hours.

Left to Right: LA Splash Ghoulish, Aromi Desert Taupe, ColourPop Tootsi
Ghoulish is the on the surface mid range price at $13.98.  It is the least comfortable of the three as it feels as though you have a plastic coating on your lips and it also smells the worst.  It is a good product though and will last all day.  The processing and shipping on this is very fast.
Tootsi is closest in color to Ghoulish, has the lowest surface price at $5.00, smells like vanilla, and is the most comfortable, it also lasts a long time.  This does have the longest processing time for your order but once it ships it arrives quickly.
Desert Taupe is slightly more pink than the other colors, although it has the highest surface price it is actually the best value, has a pleasant scent, and lasts all day.  The processing and shipping on this was just as fast as the LA Splash products.

I liked all of them but found the slight pinker tone of Desert Taupe to be my favorite, although the comfort of Tootsi makes it a little more wearable.  They are all very comparable.

I was definitely impressed with Aromi and I'm sure you'll see more of these liquid lipsticks on my blog.

* I bought Desert Taupe with my own money.  No one sent me this for kicks or asked that I review it.

LA Splash Ghoulish

As my hunt for the perfect dupe for a certain greige lip color is on, you had to know this was coming after I tried LA Splash's Hidden Desires.  The packaging is very simple and it's nice because you don't feel as though you're paying for the packaging.

LA Splash has two formulas of their Ghoulish Lip Couture.  They have OG Ghoulish and Ghoulish.  Ghoulish is their reformulated version and has more pink.  I purchased the regular Ghoulish.  It was $13.98 for a .10 oz tube.  I will probably buy OG eventually, but there is only so much I can reason having multiple brands of the same color, especially on my bank account.

Doe foot
The applicator is an extra long doe foot.  It does surprisingly well for application of the product, however, if you have issues with this, NikkieTutorials just made a How to Apply Liquid Lipstick Like a Pro video.  This video is great and will definitely help if you're having any trouble.

Ghoulish
It does have an unpleasant scent, sort of like how your skin smells after a day at the pool.  But not strong enough to be chlorinated pool water.  It fades quickly.  It feels sticky and you will want to use caution if you layer as if you wait too long it will ball up and be weird.

Artificial Light
It is very long lasting and slightly uncomfortable (fairly normal with liquid lipsticks).  It does tend to dry out my lips, so I make sure to be really nice with moisture after wearing this color.

It feels different on your lips after drying, almost as though some sort of thin barrier is on your lips.  But it does last remarkably well through eating and drinking.  It will last through your work day.

I was impressed with the processing speed and the shipment.  It was very fast and I didn't feel like haunting my email account and getting all antsy waiting for shipping.  For a liquid lipstick this is pretty reasonably priced and I think over all the quality is pretty good.

* I got Ghoulish on my own.  The walking dead didn't attack me with this or try to force me to buy it.

ColourPop I Heart This Lippie Stix and Pencil

ColourPop has become my favorite brand of lipstick.  I've had to move my MAC out of my makeup carousel to make room for more.

When I saw ColourPop's I ♥ This Lippie Stix and Pencil it was an easy sell.  They are not to be confused with the Super Shock Shadow of the same name.

They are $5.00 each.  The Lippie Stix is 1 g of product.  They are made in the USA and they do not test on animals.

I ♥ This is a gorgeous red fuchsia in their matte formula that would be perfect for fall, but I'll still wear in the summer because it's so pretty.  The matte formula lasts a very very long time on the lips and is quite comfortable for a matte.

I ♥ This

It has good pigmentation.  While I love the color of this, I have found that unlike most of their mattes, which transfer at first and then dry down, this one never really dried down. At lunch this was all over my coffee cup.  I had to be careful through the day not to smudge it.

I still love the all day lasting power, how it is mostly comfortable all day, but toward the end of an eight hour day you'll want gloss or something, but I was surprised at the transferring.  It's still a great color that would look pretty on so many skin tones as your undertones will really bring out certain aspects of this color.

* I bought I ♥ This with my own money.  No one told me to ♥ this or made me ♥ this.  I ♥ this of my own free will.

LA Splash Hidden Desires

LA Splash is a brand that has been getting more attention due to a certain dupe it has produced.  But this isn't a story about that.  This is a story about how purple is awesome.  Um... I mean about LA Splash 's Lip Couture waterproof liquid lipstick in the color Hidden Desires.  It is 13.98 for a .10 oz tube.

Desires hidden in clear packaging
Hidden Desires is magenta and is a fun color for spring and summer.  The clear package is cheap and obviously a throw away.  The container is simple and goes with the gold most companies are putting out at this time.  I am okay with not paying for packaging.

Extra long doe foot
The applicator is an extra long angled doe foot.  At first I thought this might be awkward for application, but it made it very easy to apply.  The scent is horrid, almost like nail polish remover, but fades quickly.

Hidden Desires
Unlike most liquid lipsticks I have tried, this does not remove easily with oil, I actually had to massage it in.  It will last all day, through food, even some with a little grease, and will take some effort to remove.  It feels a little tacky at first and if you layer too much especial at different drying stages it may ball up.  It quickly doesn't transfer and while you will notice it's there, it's not highly uncomfortable, although it is a little drying.

Under artificial light

This color may make teeth appear a little more yellow, but not too bad.  It can be drying, so make sure to throw down some moisture and prep your lips well for this.  It seems to throw a bit of a moisture barrier up, so chap-stick does not feel like it's penetrating.  One coat application was quite opaque and mostly hid my birthmark on my lip.

It processed quickly and shipped fast as well.

It's great for summer.  I am happy with this purchase.  I'm not wild about the scent, but I can live with the few seconds I have to smell it.

* I bought my own Hidden Desires.

ColourPop/Kathleen Lights Where the Light Is Palette

So, Kathleen Lights also collaborated with ColourPop to make an eye-shadow quad.  They called it the Where the Light is Palette.  Like Shaaanxo's palette, it's $20.00 for four  .07 oz eye-shadows.  They are made in the USA and not tested on animals.

Cute packaging
I adore Kathleen, so even though this is shamelessly warm, I knew I was going to purchase it eventually.  Jaclyn Hill used it here, BabsBeauty used it here, and Ashley Honeywood used it here.

The little pots of light are encased in a white box from which I eagerly liberated them.  In this palette there are two matte shades, one pearlized, and one metallic, nearly running the gamut of the available formulas.  The consistency is the wonderful cream and powder had a baby.

Glow
Our first shade is a matte and for people that are not my skin tone this would make a great highlight.  On those that are similar to my skin tone it would be good to transition between shadow and highlight.  The color is Glow and is very creamy.  It's a nice vanilla color.  It's nice to have a matte highlight, especially with all of the glittery shades.  It has okay pigmentation.

Cornelious
The second matte shade is a warm caramel color.  It is named after one of her dogs (her favorite) which is totally adorable.  It has decent pigmentation and blends out well.  This color is good in the crease and is very similar to the XO palette color Selfie.  Both are very good for warming up a cool look, Cornelious leans a little more brown and Selfie a little more peach.  Pigmentation on both is similar.

KathleenLights
The third shade in the palette is a pearlized formula and is the color Kathleen named after herself, KathleenLights.  It is a gorgeous copper color.  Like liquefied new penny.  It is very creamy and highly pigmented.  This would be a stunning summer liner if the copper look is too bright for your personal taste for an eye-shadow.

Blaze
The last shade is the only metallic formula.  It's Blaze.  Blaze is medium-dark bronze with gold glitter.  It has good pigmentation.  It is also warm toned, leans more neutral which makes it very wearable.  It is long lasting and has minimal fall out.  As with the other colors, I did not notice any creasing.  Of the colors, I think was my favorite.

Even though this palette was warm toned, I did like it.  KathleenLights had the best pigmentation.  I think Blaze and Glow wear the most wearable for cool toned people.  Cornelious and Glow are the more patchy colors but they are the matte formulas and those aren't the best in most eye-shadow brands, this is a problem that ColourPop has as well.

*  No one turned on the lights for me.  I purchased this palette on my own.

ColourPop Sugar Super Shock Shadow

Once you go ColourPop...  I can't seem to stop.  I just really like the colors and the price.  They deliver very fast, however it seems to feel like forever for the processing.  I check my emails like a nut, waiting to see if they've shipped yet.

Cute little card is included as well

Next on the ColourPop Super Shock Shadows list is their color Sugar.  It is a pretty aquamarine color with dustings of silver, champagne, and gold glitter.

It is made in California and is not tested on animals.  It is $5.00 for .07 oz.  MayaMia and Nelly Toledo use it in tutorials.

It has that same signature creamy + powder = awesome formula.

Sugar!
Sugar is a metallic formula, so it's very glittery.  It has nice pigmentation.  It appears to be more green/blue when paired with certain colors and more silvery blue with other colors.

As with the other metallics, it's easy to apply with your finger or with a synthetic brush.  This color would look pretty on many skin tones but I think as an eyeliner on tanned skin would make a nice contrast.

A lot of looks on YouTube lately have a bright color on the lower lash line and this would be pretty for that as well.  It is pastel enough to be good for spring and summer but I think it will also work in the winter as it can appear more silvery if you pair it with certain colors.

I do like this color, but it's not one of my favorites.  I'm not one for blues with my eyes, but for people who like blue eye-shadows, this one is quite pretty.

*  No one topped my breakfast with this special sugar.  It came after I purchased it with my own cash.

Aromi Merry Mulberry Liquid Lipstick

I really wanted to do this one because it's limited edition and I wanted you to get a crack at it before they decide to do something silly like make it unavailable.  The color is Merry Mulberry by Aromi Beauty.  It is $17.00 for 4 g of product.

Aromi
I really like the sound of the Aromi company.  The company was formed by Hannah who is not only beautiful, but a chemist.  Go beauty and brains!  The products are hand crafted.  They are also fur baby friendly as they do not test on animals and use vegan materials.

Merry Mulberry
I like the packaging on this.  It's clean looking with a black lid and a clear container with a silver line near the lid.

Applicator
The applicator is a small doe foot that allows for control in application of the product.  It has a good scent.  Kinda like artificial cupcakes or something.

Under bathroom lighting
I went swimming in this and it stayed.  It lasts for hours unless you eat greasy foods, you may have to touch up a little after eating.  It will dry down to a matte after about a minute.  For a liquid lipstick it is fairly comfortable.  You can feel it on your lips, it has a slight drying that isn't too bad until after about hour four.  It doesn't feather much without a lip liner.

Big ol' Swatch
It is a beautiful berry color that is perfect for autumn. US shipping is $4.95, Canada is $8.95, Europe is $10.95, and Australia and New Zealand are $12.95.

Results of greasy food
Okay, it's actually my preferred method of removal.  I use a little avocado oil and massage it into the lips and then wash my mess free.  If there is still staining I'll use a micellar water to further get rid of my berry stain.

I really like this color but I have found it to not last as long as I'd like.  It wears unevenly and kinda looks a hot mess around hour six.

* I merrily purchased Merry Mulberry on my own.

ColourPop Toucan Lippie Stix

Yay more ColourPop!  For summer ColourPop released some truly beautiful shades.  Everyone knows it's not summer til you pop coral.  I might have just made that up two seconds ago.  However, coral is practically eponymous for summer.  So, when I saw Colourpop's Toucan, I knew I had to have it.

Toucan

Unlike most of the lipsticks I have from ColourPop this one did not have a matching lip liner.  It's not the end of the world. Before ColourPop I had one or two lip liners.  Now, I have bunches!  Toucan is a bright pink red coral and it's a very lively color.

It is made in California, not tested on animals, smells like vanilla, and is a matte formula.  It is $5.00 for a 1 gram stick.  The shape of the stick helps it stay at a point and aids in the application of the lip product.

It applies very creamy and for the first hour or so there will be transfer.  But it does dry down to a matte and after that, you are locked in.  It stays on very well.  You can make it through an eight hour work day in this color and then go out for cocktails (or beer) after, although at that point you may be wanting some lip gloss or chap-stick because your lips will feel dry.

The pigmentation on it is good.  It is on the warmer side but not unwearable by cool toned people.  This is part of their summer collection and as such is limited at this point.  So, if this is a color you want in your life, you may want to step up and purchase it.  I do like this color, it's perfect for summer, but as it is warmer it's not my most favorite shade of life.  I think darker skin tones would look gorgeous in this color!

* Toucan Sam did not deliver this Lippie Stick in a flutter of colorful plumage.  I bought this myself with my own $5.00.

Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water Review

I've had this for over a month and I wanted to make sure I really wore this so I could give a good opinion.  Especially since it can be hard to tell with primers.  Unless they truly rock your socks off or something.

So there wasn't a face on YouTube that didn't tell me that I needed this.  It was here, here, here, here, here, and here.  It is everywhere!

It's the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water the small 1 oz size is $16.00 and the full size 3.9 oz is $32.00.  Fiscally the $32.00 is the more responsible.  But if you're low on funds that $16.00 makes more sense.

Smashbox
On paper this looks like an amazing product, silicone free, alcohol free, oil free, and infused with electrolytes.  It feels nice on the skin.  If you do the Wayne Goss foundation over primer trick, this spray just feels great after the powder step.

Primer Water
It is just expensive water.  It doesn't have things that are really harmful, as far as preservatives go, it has one of the more gentle ones, but if a person has sensitive skin there are a few things that might bother your skin.  The fragrance isn't very strong but may bother some sensitive people. I didn't find the scent enjoyable.  It just smelled kinda chemically.  This primer water won't really do much that justifies the price.

I didn't find it to prolong my makeup.  It did feel somewhat hydrating for a little while.  I didn't find that it refreshed my makeup.  I won't be repurchasing, but if you want to try it, I suggest getting the small size just to see if you really like it.

* I bought this myself with my own money.

ColourPop Liberty Super Shock Shadow

This next shadow was one that I was very excited about.  I saw it in action in this Icy Blue Smokey Eye by Desi Perkins and this New Year's Eve look by LustreLux.  LustreLux is another one of those people who could talk me into just about anything.  This is the ColourPop Super Shock Shadow in the color Liberty.

Liberty
Like the other Super Shock Shadows this is 2.1 g for $5.00.  ColourPop is made in California and does not test on animals.  It has that same mousse/powder that you really have to feel to understand.

Ultra-Metallic
Unlike any other shadow of theirs that I have seen, this is an Ultra-Metallic formula.  Oh boy is it.

Liberty
The Ultra-Metallic formula is a horse of another color entirely.  It is not glittery.  It is like liquid silver poured onto the skin without the pain and the Game of Thrones golden crown horror.  It is very pigmented.  Because I am slightly chicken at times, I prefer to wear this like EnKayBeauty does and use it as a liner.  BabsBeauty uses it very subtly on the inner portion of her lower lashes in this video.  It is beautiful.  I was very impressed and intimidated by this shadow, but I cannot wait to play with it some more.

This might be too intense for some people.  But as you can see, there are ways to use it where it isn't completely over the top.  If you like a walk on the metallic side, this shadow and you will get along famously.  It has great lasting power and it still amazes me that this was only $5.00.

* No one decided to liberate me from plain silver shadows.  I bought Liberty with my own sterling.
